If
you click on the left of the cover you can read the words of the rhymes and
songs recorded on our first cassette which lasts 60 minutes. There is also a second cassette with a collection of specially recorded counting rhymes and children’s songs and chants. These are sample recordings of sound material sent to us in the course of the 1996-97 school year as part of the counting rhymes research conducted by B. Ciari Primary School in Cocomaro di Cona, Italy.
Thanks to the international contacts now possible through the Internet we have managed to gather fascinating counting rhymes and chants from more than 50 different countries.
Though we were able to appreciate the rhyme and structure of non-Italian items we weren’t always sure of the correct pronunciation and so we asked schools if they could help us by recording them on cassette. Our collection of counting rhymes, songs and chants has now been sent out to many countries around the world in return for similar recordings. This first international recording contains samples from the first seven cassettes originating from Ireland, Hawaii, Argentina, Denmark, California, Senegal and Japan.
We are currently working on a second international cassette with material from Sweden, Illinois USA, Kurdistan, Egypt, Colombia and other countries).
To help identify the recordings their duration is detailed on the inside cover. School recordings are separated by a short jingle.
If you are in Italy and would like a copy please send L.10,000 (post and package costs included in the price) by completing a post office payment form. You are also welcome to come and visit us at school. All money raised through the sale of this cassette will go to finance the “Gazzetta di Cocomaro” (our self-financed school magazine published every two nonths.
