The counting rhymes showcased in this website are a sample selection of the many thousand we have in our archives.

Each rhyme has been compiled in large type for easy reading also for smaller children.

Most rhymes and chants in foreign languages (not Italian) and dialects have been provided with a translation even though of course this means the fun of the rhyme is lost.

Some words in dialect may not have been spelt correctly as it is not always easy to transcribe handwritten texts. Any corrections and suggestions on this aspect would be appreciated!

The name of the school or person responsible for reciting or writing the counting rhyme is cited after an asterisk at the end.
